Guide on DIY Garlic Insect Spray
First, crush 4-5 cloves of fresh garlic for about 10-15 minutes to maximize allicin production.
Next, mix the garlic with a quart (4 cups) of water in a bowl, allowing it to sit for at least 24 hours to infuse fully.
Then, you strain the mixture to remove any solid pieces of garlic and add a teaspoon of liquid soap, which helps the spray adhere to the plants.
For an extra boost, you can also mix in a tablespoon each of vegetable oil and vinegar.
Finally, pour the mixture into a clean spray bottle, then apply your garlic spray to your plants, focusing on both the tops and undersides of the leaves.
Notes When Using DIY Garlic Insect Spray
Whether indoors or outdoors, you should apply the spray once a week in the early morning or late evening, especially during the growing season.
If you notice a heavy infestation, don’t hesitate to reapply every few days until the pests are under control.
In addition, for indoor plants, you need to ensure proper ventilation to manage the strong garlic odor.
