Meanwhile, MiraLAX and its generic counterparts contain polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG), a compound derived from the toxic chemical ethylene glycol (yes, the stuff in automotive antifreeze and brake fluid 😱). PEG works as an osmotic laxative, drawing water into the bowel to produce watery movements. However, PEG is also found in wood treatments, paints, rubber, textiles, detergents, and even toilet-bowl cleaners!
