Old-Fashioned Chocolate Pie Recipe

1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and flour.

2. Add Wet Ingredients: Slowly whisk in milk and egg yolks until smooth.

3. Cook the Filling: Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble, about 7-10 minutes.

4. Add Butter and Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract until fully combined.

5. Fill the Pie Crust: Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.

6. Chill: Let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until the filling is set.

7. Serve: Slice and serve with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
