Among other things, bicarbonate should be used in small quantities, without water . The product allows you to disinfect and refresh the pillows by spraying the surface and leaving it to act for a maximum of one hour. If you want to achieve an even more interesting effect, you can mix bicarbonate and drops of oil of any scent. The result will be fabulous. To remove it after the installation time has elapsed , use a brush or simply a vacuum cleaner. Bicarbonate is used because it has an excellent cleaning and suction effect, while the addition of oil gives the pillow a pleasant smell and eliminates germs and bacteria.
Baby powder, another effective stain remover
A second remedy sees talcum powder as the protagonist, used since ancient times to relieve redness of children’s skin, combat irritation and sweat, and dehydrate the skin. In the same way, and due to the same absorbent properties , it is able to absorb the fat from the pillows and eliminate all stains.
Simply sprinkle the pillow with talcum powder and leave it to act for a few hours. Then, as with bicarbonate of soda, remove excess dust with a brush or, which is certainly more practical, a vacuum cleaner.
How to use vinegar and other natural products we have at home
In addition to these two remedies, there is vinegar, which refreshes the pillow and quickly eliminates bad smells. Then, add a little vinegar to a bucket of water, then dip a cloth in the solution and wring it out well, as it should not be wet under any circumstances. To the solution obtained, you can add a few drops of essential oil of your choice from different scents. Orange, mandarin and lavender are indicated, which also help to relax and sleep. Then pass the damp cloth over the pillow and then let it dry in the sun or in the air.
Lemon and salt cannot be missed, as they have an incredible stain-removing and cleaning effect on all fabrics. In fact, lemon was once used to revive the natural whiteness of laundry, while salt is known for its excellent degreasing and antibacterial properties. Then mix the two products until you get a paste that you will sprinkle in small quantities directly on the pillow. We focus in particular on eliminating stains with a damp cloth. Leave it to act for an hour. After the necessary time has elapsed, it can be removed with a dry or otherwise clean cloth. Ultimately, the pillow will look as if it had been freshly washed or just bought.
Marseille soap
The last resort for very clean, white pillows is to use Marseille soap.
Only one glass of it should be poured into one liter of warm water. Moisten a cloth with the solution , wring it out well and dab it on the pillow. Then let it dry and the pillows will be perfect.
